Pu-erh compressed tea

Pu-erh tea or pu'er tea is post-fermented tea (dark tea). It owes its name to the city of Pu'er, in the Chinese province of Yunnan. The tea produced in the region was compressed so that it could be more easily transported by caravans to Tibet.

When packaged in compressed form and stored under the right conditions, puehr tea is a living product which can improve over time and, like wine, increase in value with age.
