Statue " Zhong Kui"

Pezzo molto raro, questa imponente scultura in legno di bosso, Cina XVIII secolo.

Dal maestro scultore Yong Li dello Yunnan.

La figura di Zhong Kui armato di spada, assistito da un demone che porta gioielli magici nella sua scatola rotonda, è una figura della mitologia cinese, tradizionalmente considerata come uno spirito guardiano nelle case e nei luoghi di lavoro, che tiene un ventaglio sulla schiena per scacciare gli spiriti maligni. La popolarità di Zhong Kui nel folklore può essere fatta risalire al regno dell'imperatore Tang Xuanzong (712-756).
