Sideboard "JIANG"
Sideboard in wood and painted leather, with glass above
Chinese cabinetmakers mainly use elm in their furniture design. More resistant and more flexible than oak, elm is a firm wood, quite hard and with a magnificent veining. “Painted leather” finishing is a traditional Chinese technique of covering furniture with bonded leather ranging from red to burgundy depending on exposure and varnish finish and painting different designs on it. The latter mainly represent life scenes from ancient times, flowers and animals. The interiors are covered with reproductions of lunar calendars. The rendering of this furniture is unique both visually and in terms of touch.
